I have received the following from David’s dear friend and our fellow member, Bruce Simmonds –

David Garrett passed away earlier this week, after finally losing his 9 year spirited fight to kidney cancer and a brain tumour.

David was a long serving Round Tabler here in Bristol and continued his many friendships into 41 Club, including Calpe 41 . He was a keen supporter of the Clusters.

He was an intelligent deep thinking man, mastered Spanish including reading many books written in the language, and an accomplished guitarist leading, amongst many other performances, a whole host of Ladies Night Cabarets in which I had great fun taking part.
He had a great sense of humour and remained positive right through until the end of his successful and happy life.

He sold his 2 properties in Calpe a few years ago, as he wanted to simplify his affairs in the knowledge that his deteriorating health would not allow him to cope with ownership any longer.

He leaves his lovely wife Sandy, their 2 children Alison and Neil, plus 4 grandchildren.

He was a great guy, and I am privileged to have had him as a wonderful friend over many years.

He will be sadly missed.
