AGM Our AGM, scheduled for today (April 9th) could not happen in its usual structured and organised style (who writes this stuff?) because of the total shut down of society imposed as a result of the COVID-19 viral pandemic. Instead, with the support of our members, Chairman Steve called a virtual meeting. Every member was invited to participate. The Chairman’s, Secretary’s and (rather scant) Treasurer’s reports were all received. The accounts will be adopted once the Treasurer returns to Spain, where his files are. But we know that we are in a healthy state financially. The following officers were elected for the year 2020/21.
Chairman Stuart Badman
Vice Chairman Steve May
Immediate past. Steve Moores
Secretary. Brian Seeley
Club Contact. Keith Beaman
Treas. & M/ship Tony Lewis
Webmaster Andrew Johnson
And the social programme for the year was approved. The following agenda includes the reports, the appointments and the social programme.
Calpe & District 41 Club AGENDA Annual General Meeting, Thursday 9th March 2020 (Virtual Meeting due to Corona Virus)
Chairman’s Report In May we held our Charter Night as always. It was attended by National President Andrew Mackereth, who I home hosted. It took place at the Puerto Blanco restaurant, music was by Barry Peters and the night was a great success. In June we held “Billy Boules” overlooking the sea at Villa Gadea followed by tapas at the nearby Chiringuito. Depite the poor attendance by Costa Blanca 41 club members, our members enjoyed an excellent evening of fun and fellowship. In September we held the now traditional Fish & Chip night at Dave’s on the Calpe -Moraira road. As always it was very well supported. November was, of course, Cluster weekend in Calpe and what a weekend! The organisation and support from all members was exemplary but special mention must go to Andrew and Keith for the huge amount of work they put in. Almost 100 attendees went home delighted. In January we celebrated Burns Night at Tony & Suzi Lewis’s house. Yet another superb evening thanks to the amazing hosts and excellent food. Unfortunately, the end of the year has been dominated by the Corona Virus Pandemic and, at the time of writing this report, Spain is in lock-down. The next few months are going to be difficult but I hope that we can resume normal life and normal 41 Club activities as quickly as possible and in time for Stuart to have a great year as Chairman. We wish him well. Secretary’s Report We held 7 meetings during the year from May 2019 to April 2020 inclusive. There were no meetings in July, August or December as usual. There was also no meeting in November 2019 due to the club hosting the Iberian Cluster. The meeting to be held in April 2020 will be a virtual meeting due to the Coronavirus and no attendance figures are not relevant. The average attendance for the past year was 9 compared with 8 in 2018/19 and the highest attendance was in February. Treasurer’s Report Our Treasurer, Steve May, was due to return to Spain from Australia but is unable to do so at the present time. Unfortunately, all his 41 Club records are on a USB here in Spain. The proposal, therefore, is that approval of the accounts and of next years recommended subscriptions for 2020/21 is postponed until they can be prepared, audited and circulated at the earliest opportunity. Election of Officers for 2016-2017 The following nominations have been received: Chairman Stuart Badman Vice Chairman Steve May Immediate past. Steve Moores Secretary. Brian Seeley Club Contact.
