Dear Members,

You will all have heard the sad news that Bruce Simmonds, a Calpe 41 Club Founder Member.

Member, passed away during the summer after a short illness, and he will be greatly missed by his friends and colleagues in UK and Spain

Many of you will also remember that last year, Bruce and his wife Kathy arranged awonderful and informal 41 Club supper night at their beautiful home in Empedrola, Calpe. 

Such was the success of the evening, that Bruce and Kathy had already offered to repeat the event this year.

I am delighted to tell you that it is Kathy’s brave decision that the party should go ahead as planned, both as a tribute to Bruce and a chance for Calpe 41 Club to show its respect for our much loved member. 

This is how Bruce outlined his plans earlier this year:

“…..to this end we are delighted to welcome as many as possible to another happy evening in our

“Spanish Hideaway” at: VILLA MAYA, LA EMPEDROLA L18, CALPE

The date TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 24  

We will put on an “all inclusive” evening, suggesting a start time of 7.30 and ending when people want to leave.

There will be “canapés” and “cava” on arrival followed by either a BBQ -depending on numbers – or a chicken dish with salads etc. For “dessert” we will offer water melon and chocolate ice cream on a stick.

Wine and beer – plus soft and water – will be provided throughout.

The cost will be €20 per head.

All that is required is for people to turn up and we will do the rest!”

I will send out directions to Kathy’s house a little nearer to the day, but in the meantime, 

I need to know who and how many will come. If you are able attend, please tell Secretary Stuart Badman or myself. Obviously wives and partners are included in the invitation!
