We have just received the following sad news from Marie’s daughter, Maxine.

“Yesterday the Lord gained another angel. My sweet mum, best friend, the strongest, most determined, sometimes stubborn woman I know, was finally reunited with my dad. 😇. She passed peacefully, here in California, with myself, Joseph and Claire by her side. Over the past 8 years, she’d endured open heart surgery, COVID alone in Spain, a stroke and then sadly this year cancer. Why was life so cruel? She fought so hard and wanted to live so badly. Her biggest wish was to be with her family for Christmas, I brought her here to Carlsbad. We celebrated, Christmas, her joint birthday with Thomas and she also managed to see in the English New Year. Sadly she deteriorated after that. 😢 She led a very full life, thanks to dad retiring when he was 50 and has many friends around the world. Loved by so many. I can only hope to be half the woman she was. Rest in peace Mum/moma/grandma. I know dad will have been waiting for you with open arms. We love you so much.💔🙏❤️”
